Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is it a mixed school?
A: yes, all classes and activities are for both boys and girls.
Q: What is the language of instruction at the Elementary section?
A: There are two tracks, an Arabic language track and an English language track. At the English language track, the language of instruction is English with Arabic being taught at different levels and students also learning French as a third language. The language of instruction at the Arabic language track is Arabic with English being taught at an advanced level and students also learn French as a third language.
Q: Will students at the Arabic language track be ready to move to learn in English after Grade 5?
A: Yes. The decision made to implement the IB in Arabic is based on many scientific facts. Many linguists emphasize on the importance for the students to master their first language in order to learn other languages and develop their personal skills. Thus, we believe that our students at AIA will master English language skills with proficiency. Research has also shown that using the first language as language of instruction helps students to acquire in depth scientific skills and knowledge as well as improving their ability to relate this to local and global issues. Students at the Arabic language track learn English at an advanced level so that when they reach grade 6 they will have an advanced foundation in English language.
