Arab International Academy Celebrates the Graduation of its First Cohort
Under the patronage of his excellency Dr. Abdulla bin Ali Al- Thani, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Arab International Academy, The Academy celebrated the graduation of its first cohort of 15 graduating seniors in a commencement ceremony live-streamed to parents, teachers, and friends due to safety measures and restrictions in light of the pandemic.
His excellency, Dr. Abdulla underlined the importance of this event and congratulated the graduates and their families. He went on to wish the graduates a bright future of discovery and learning.
In turn, the superintendent of AIA, Mr. Mahmoud Amra, expressed in his speech how proud he was of this accomplishment and this very special point in the school’s history. He addressed the graduates saying, “Many challenges await you in future, but remember that alongside these challenges is the happiness and satisfaction that results from your accomplishments and the excitement of future discoveries of places, people and possibilities. My sincerest hope is that the AIA has prepared you well for the next stage of your life, and that we have shaped you into balanced, inquiring, open-minded and principled individuals.”
The ceremony included many standout events, including the speech given by the class Valedictorian, May Al Hamdi, who reminded her colleagues of their days at school saying, “today we wave farewell to our school and leave behind wonderful memories filled with laughter and childhood adventures. We wave farewell to the schoolyard that was to us our safe haven and look forward to a successful future.
This was followed by a speech from the class representative, Enis Odeh, who shared his experiences stating, “We learnt many lessons at school. Not only those taught in class but life lessons that will forever be imprinted in our minds and cherished in our hearts.”
Following the speeches were several musical segments gifted to the graduates by middle school students, as well as the distribution of awards for excellence, the passing of the school flag, and a touching video prepared by the graduates highlighting their memories of their time at AIA.
The final event was the distribution of the certificates to all graduates by Dr. Abdulla Al- Thani, Mr. Amra, and Miss Dalal Hammoudeh, Principal of the secondary school. This was followed by the commencement announcement of the official graduation of the first cohort of students at AIA.
